Cross Country

For the past 3 years, many 2nd - 6th graders from GCCA  have competed in elementary cross country and track competitions through the Grove City Running Club or the Grove City Athletics Club.  The GCAC, is a nonprofit group that caters to youth, recreational adults, families, walkers, and serious athletes.  Volunteer coaches work with kids two days a week in the Fall and Spring to help develop a lifelong passion for running and fitness in general.  Throughout the last few years, 1/3 of the 100 kids in the "Running Club" have come from GCCA students.  The students get to compete in local dual meets, elementary races and also go to invitationals in the area.
This year, Coaches Ryan Wells and Megan Nash, helped give our students who were older than 6th grade a chance to compete as well, establishing the middle school and high school team.  This allowed our GCCA students and home school students in the area a chance to compete in cross country.  Four GCCA middle school and high school students competed in 5 different invitationals this fall.  This team is open to both boys and girls in 7-12th grade who are at GCCA or home schooled that live outside of Grove City School District.  Every athlete on the team ran their personal best in their last race.  9th grader, Anijha Foust medaled at the Commodore Perry Invitational.  7th grader, Luke Nash, medaled at the Commodore Perry, Cochranton, and Grove City Invitationals.
