Mission and History

OUR MISSION STATEMENT
Grove City Christian Academy seeks to instruct children concerning the sovereign Lord of creation, the purpose He has for them, and the nature of the creation over which He has placed man. We strive to equip and assist children to faithfully and obediently carry out man's God-given task in Genesis 1:28: "God blessed them and said to them, 'Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.'" We want their convictions and beliefs regarding the whole of life to be rooted in the Bible. While striving for academic excellence in every discipline, GCCA emphasizes a structured integration of a Christian world and life view in all of our studies. We seek to reinforce the moral values and Christian faith that our students are taught in the home and church.

Our History

In 1970, a group of parents from the Orthodox Presbyterian Churches in Grove City, Edinburg, and Harrisville met to discuss Christian education. In the Fall of 1971, these parents founded The Christian Public School of Western Pennsylvania. In 1974, the school divided: one school remained as The Christian Public School of Western Pennsylvania and our school was founded and officially incorporated as The Lawrence County Christian Education Association which was later renamed Jubilee Christian School. The school held classes in the Nashua Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Edinburg for four years. It began with three teachers and 31 students in grades K-8. In 1978 it purchased a public school building in Volant. In 1983 it moved to Grove City and changed its name to Jubilee Christian School and in May 2001 its name was finally declared to be Grove City Christian Academy.

GCCA experienced a nomadic period from 1974 to 2019 as various parts of its educational body were located at over 12 different locations which included numerous churches such as: The Church of God, Center Presbyterian, First Baptist, Grove City Alliance, Church of the Nazarene, Covenant OPC and Grace Methodist.  It was with great delight in 2011 that God gave this traveling academy a permanent home at 301 Madison Ave.

We are grateful that God provided GCCA with a place to call home for our 5th - 12th grades at 105 Mill Street in December 2019. We agree with the Psalmist, when he declared, “ When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream. Then our month was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, ‘The Lord has done great things for them.’ The Lord has done great things for us; we are glad.”

Its founding families, teachers, and board members poured their time, resources, and talent into the development of our academy which today serves over 290 students from all parts of Mercer County and beyond. Many prayers, sacrifices, and investments have been made each year since the inception of GCCA for the advancement of classical Christian education in Grove City and beyond. The Lord has been faithful to uphold and establish GCCA. We delight in serving the one who has advanced GCCA each year. Soli Deo Gloria!
A Christian education in the classical tradition.
